Thirty Years Ago Today

On Valentine's Day in 1981, this handsome couple was married in Chillicothe, Missouri.  Here are my son and his new wife, Bill and Ann, ready to cut their cake at the reception that was held in the church Ann's family was and is a part of for many years.  It was a beautiful wedding with Ann's three sisters standing up with her.  She wore her mom's wedding dress and it was beautiful.
This is a picture of our family that day.  Norah Lee was about three years old and was flower girl.  Her dress was a small replica of the dresses Ann's three sisters wore and I made it.  It did turn out nicely.  Sherry was pregnant with Molly who was born the 5th of May.   I send you love and want to wish you a happy 30th anniversary, Bill and Ann, and I wish you many, many more years together.   You are a great couple!!      (Click to enlarge)

  1. Wonderful. My mom and dad became engaged 66 years ago today. My mother lived in Pennsylvania and my dad was in training in Washington state. He bought her a ring, put it in a box, and dropped it in a mailbox. They'd only known each other for I think 2 months the previous fall when he was in photo recon training in Harrisburg. She said yes and they were married for 56 years. I hope your daughter and son-in-law have happines for decades to come.

  2. Awww, that's very sweet and lovely! My own parents though, ages 85 and nearly 81, have only been married for 49 years this year. They got married much later in life, so although I'm 46, I have parents this age and never knew Grandparents, except for one Grandmother who died when I was 7. It's so different for me then to think of people much younger being married so long. My husband and I have only been married for 9 years this year, and so with him at 54 and me at 46, it would be incredible for us to even reach 39 years, as we'll be quite elderly then.

Best wishes to your wonderful son and daughter-in-law. :)
